Happy Mother's Day

Dear Mami,

Photo taken 1987; pregnant with me :)

I have no idea where to even begin.  Maybe I should start by saying thank you.  Thank you for always putting me first.  Thank you for late nights and early mornings and thank you for always making it all look so easy.  As an adult, I now know that it never was.  I hope to one day be half the mother you are.  Thank you for making sure that I always had clothes on my back and food in my belly; even if it meant you had to sacrifice your wants and sometimes needs.  Thank you for always being warm, kind, and nurturing; I like to think that I get that from you.  Thank you for letting me express myself through style and personality, even if it meant you had to endure my screaming because my ponytail wasn't "high enough."  Thank you for always letting me wear what I wanted for picture day; the things that I remember, right?  Thank you for pushing me to do better, be better.  Thank you for supporting all my dreams and passions and not making me seem like I was crazy for wanting more.  Thank you for letting me think I was getting all those body piercings and not just flat out saying no.  "Francheska, you can get that belly button ring, but just in case read this before you make your decision. {Hands over pages and pages of piercing horror stories from the internet.}  Real effective, mom.  Thank you for watching over me, even when I didn't know you were there. (ie. high school dances.)  I know you know which one I'm talking about.  Thank you for not embarrassing me, ever.  Thank you for always encouraging me to be the nicest person in the room, even when I wasn't feeling so nice.  "Kill them with kindness."  Thank you for teaching me the power of prayer and how to trust in God.  Thank you for letting me grow into the person I am today.  And thank you, for always treating me like your baby no matter how old I am.  Just like in the book you used to read me, "I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living, my baby you'll be."  I love you, Mami linda!

Happy Mother's Day to you all!  I know it isn't easy, but it sure is rewarding.
