So, everyone keeps emailing me and asking me about the picture of my hair that I posted on Instagram about a month ago. It's the one above - it's a no filter, grainy, iPhone photo. But really, it's all I've got. I know, it's a shame. Honestly, I just showed the stylist a picture I had been hoarding on my phone for like a year and told her "that's what I want!". This is something that I planned on doing for YEARS. Finally, for like the millionth time I said, "I'm gonna do it!" That and I wanted to prove Mike wrong because I've been all talk for all this time.
I literally just left my hair in the hands of the stylist, which was very hard for me to do. I love my dark locks but I needed a change - and it was a long time coming! I went to ULTA: The Salon and booked my appointment online. I didn't care how much it cost (actually, I'm lying. I did) but I cared more about it coming out right. It was the LONGEST PROCESS OF MY LIFE - and honestly, I can't say that I would do it again.
Long story short, it went like this : wash hair, dry hair, bleach hair, wash hair, dry hair, bleach hair, wash hair, dry hair, and bleach hair again. She bleached my hair a total of three times and left it in for about 45 min each time. I swore my hair was going to fall out. Then, she finally put in the color. The end result was gorgeous it just took sooooo long. I was there from 2:30 pm - 9:30 pm and I'm not going to even say how much it cost. They have a starting point and depending on the amount of dye they use the prices go up. Being that my hair is very long, they used a lot of product. I should be clear though, she only bleached the bottom of my hair three times and the top only once. What I asked for was a subtle ombre, therefore, the ends of my hair had to be bleached much longer then the top because my hair was so dark.
Thankfully, it came out exactly the way I wanted it to. The hair stylist really paid attention to the photos and my concerns. Although the process was long, it was worth it. She took pride in her work and made sure I walked out a happy customer!
Any ideas on good shampoos and conditioners for dyed hair? I want to keep this color in as long as possible!! I hope everyone had a happy Monday!
