Time Flies When You're Having Fun

I can't believe it's been over a month since I've been on here.  {Insert hand on face emoji right here.} I really had no intention to take such a long break but I noticed around this time of year (starting at the end of June) I tend to do that.

I did put the blog on pause at first because of work.  The last two weeks of the school year tend to get really hectic, especially when it comes to the seniors and graduates.  Up until then, everything is a whirlwind of preparation and events.  Almost immediately after that, I took an 8-day trip to Iceland with 3 of my girls.  It was an incredible experience, to say the least, but more on that later.  Other than work and traveling, I've been spending more quality time with my family and friends.  More importantly, I've been spending time with myself.  I've been enjoying the time away in more ways than one.  "Taking a break" from a lot of things have really helped me focus and put things in perspective.

On that note, I'm looking forward to the summer and taking full advantage of the longer days and warmer weather.  I hope everyone is enjoying it so far.  Happy Monday!

Last Day In LA

So you know I had to represent, right?  I'm sure you're probably happy (or not?) that I'm almost done with my California pics (I kinda did drag them out a bit) but I'm not.  All good things must eventually come to an end, right?

We finished off our Cali trip with brunch at Cafe Teragram for the second day in a row.  The food there is so good!  This was my traveling outfit.  I kept it super simple: a tee, jeans, comfy sneakers, and a baseball cap.  Our flight wasn't until later so I wanted to be as comfy as possible.  Now that I think of it, this is basically my weekend uniform  so it makes sense that I would turn to jeans, a tee, and a baseball cap for comfort.  I have to mention this tee!  It's soft, not too snug or too loose...and it's grey - my second favorite neutral.  It's a great $9 basic that would pair well with any bottom - whether jeans, shorts, or a skirt.  I'm wearing a size small for reference!

Little White Dress

I really, really love this dress.  Every single part of it!  The spaghetti straps, the way the bow ties in front, the cut-out, the length, the black and white polka dot pattern...I love it all.  It's probably one of my favorite dress purchases of all times.  It just screams summer in so many ways. This day I wore it out for dinner in Cali but I also wore it out last year for an all-white dinner and am already trying to find another reason to wear it again! Yes, I am a serial repeat outfit offender.  #sorrynotsorry  The Good news?  This dress right here is nearly identical! You're welcome. :)

SHOP THE LOOK: Cream Newburgh Polka Dot Cut-Out Dress (last summer; shop similar here)

I hope you guys enjoy the silly little slide show I have here.  I had such a great time in Cali and I wanted to show you us being total tourist on the Hollywood Walk of Fame lol.  I did buy this dress last year at Cream Newburgh but I am sharing similar styles I love down below.  Please, please, please check out their website and Instagram.  I wish I lived closer to them because I am seriously obsessed with their selection in clothing!

Black and White Striped Midi Dress

I bought this striped midi dress at the beginning of the year for my trip to Florida.  It since sold out but Forever 21 has a ton of cute options still available (see here, here, and here) as well as this Pinstripe Gaucho Jumpsuit that is basically the jumpsuit version of my dress.  Just click on the link and see for yourself!  Is there such thing as owning too many stripes because I kind of would like to buy the jumpsuit now, too! I didn't even plan on bringing this dress with me to Cali but when I saw it hanging in my closet I figured, why not? Black and white stripes are classic and pretty much work for any occasion.

I didn't even plan on bringing this dress with me to Cali but when I saw it hanging in my closet I figured, why not? Black and white stripes are classic and pretty much work for any occasion. Towards the end of the trip, I barely could make it out of bed, let alone think about what I wanted to wear.  I looked at my luggage and the first thing I pulled out was this dress. It's funny how that works out.  Something I wasn't even planning on bringing with me just so happened to be the thing to wear for a casual day of sightseeing.  As you can see, this dress was a great fit for brunch, a walk through The Urban Lights, and a photo-op in front of the Hollywood Sign. #Priorities    Two things that I love about this dress are the thick straps (no need to wear a special bra!) and the mix of horizontal and vertical stripes (which make my legs look a mile long).  Side Note: We did not hike up to the Hollywood Sign.  We drove up in true diva fashion, which is why I was able to get away with sandals and a dress.  Hey, we just spent 3 days in the desert sun.  Don't judge. Oh, and this is the bag that I wore as a fanny pack for Coachella.  I loved having the option to wear it two different ways.  A convertible bag is a great way to switch it up and save space in your luggage.  I'm really thinking about buying it in red now!

What do you guys think?

Exploring Santa Monica

We stopped by Santa Monica right before heading to Palm Springs.  Even though we didn't have much time to explore, we did stop by The Santa Monica Pier.  This place is perfect for passing time.  They have an amusement park, arcades, shops, and endless food options - all great things that make the pier a perfect place to channel your inner kid.  I'm still mad I didn't get on the Ferris wheel!  My favorite part: the beautiful views of the ocean and the mountains.  Next time I would love to ride a bike or even rollerblade my way through the pier.
