Gift Guide: For Him and Her

Tis' the season!  How is it already December?  I know some of you already started your holiday shopping -as you should - don't be a procrastinator like me.  But I don't begin my shopping until December.  I like the rush of the holiday season.  I don't know, I'm weird like that.  Maybe I don't like the rush and just need an excuse for my procrastination.  I am not admitting this with pride, you guys.  But like every other blogger in the world, I'm sharing my gift guides for the season and I have a few set up for the next two weeks.  Here is what to expect: Gift Guide For Him & Her (today), Gift Guide For the Foodie In Your Life, Gift Guide For the Jetsetter, Gift Guide For the Fitness Guru, Gift Guide For the Style Star, and a bonus Stocking Stuffer's gift guide.  I'm really excited to share these with you and hope that they really help you with finding gifts for the special people in your life.

1. ANTHROPOLOGIE HADRON EPOCH MARBLE 2017-2018 PLANNER: Every year I get myself one of these.  It's such a help when keeping your dates and even your thoughts together in one place - especially if that place is this pretty.  :)

2. MARC JACOBS MINI INCOGNITO LEATHER HANDBAG: Every girl needs an on-trend handbag in a pretty color.

3. LUX EROS BLUSH AND GOLD PYRAMID: Like I said before, I have been very into home decor lately.  I love these blush bowls! (hint, hint: buy me these, please.)

5. FUJIFILM INSTAX MINI 9 CAMERA: This is so cute and they come in various colors!

6. MICHELE SIDNEY WATCH: This has been at the top of my wishlist for what seems like forever.  You can't go wrong with a timeless wristwatch.

7. THE REFORMATION VEDA LEATHER JACKET: I love this gray leather jacket.  It leans a little towards olive which is pretty cool.

8. STEMLESS STAINLESS STEEL WINE TUMBLER:  You can get her another wine glass she already has or you can surprise her with this super cute wine tumbler.

Welcome to the longest Monday of my life.  Now, 4:56 pm, is when I'm getting to physically sit down and relax...if you even want to call it that.  Needless to say, it was a pretty crazy day and I need a whole bottle of wine and possibly a tub of Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey ice cream to help me cope.  Anyway, here's what I'm reading - from the good, the bad, and the very weird.

  • Let us start with the very weird...Meet Sophia: The First Robot to Declare Citizenship By Saudi Arabia.  I can always count on my students to keep me up to date on the creepiest things ever.
  • Forever 21: Free shipping on anything $21 and over.  Even better: free express shipping for anything $100 and over.  Because it's so easy to spend up to that much at Forever anyway and I'm sure you'll find a lot of great gifts (as well as a couple things for yourself ;)
  • I can not wait to start cooking again!  Prepare to start seeing me sharing on Instagram and Snapchat again - as well as some of my own recipes I came up with on here.  These last couple of days I've been in the mood for a really good sancocho so I'm thinking about trying out this recipe or just asking my Abuela for her's!
  • I love this simple home decor with the furry pillows and gold accents - exactly what I'm aiming for.
  • Currently crushin' on these sneakers and they are now 30% off!

Time for me to head out!  Sending lots of love your way.  :)

Sweater Dress + OTK Boots

I took a much needed break from blogging, almost two weeks.  To be honest, I wasn't even prepared to be consistent on here and decided to really focus on what mattered to me in the moment - like spending time with my loved ones.  That being said, I'm glad I listened to myself.  I put my time to good use in regards to productivity within the blog.  More importantly, I spent a lot of time with my family.  Nothing beats that - not even the blog - sorry!  I guess this is where consistency comes in...and I'm working on having content available to you guys more often that not, even when I am taking time off.

That being said, this is what I wore for Thanksgiving!   It's funny because I told myself "tone it down this year, Francheska" because I always feel like I'm doing the most.  But this year everyone dressed up, go figure.  But I am happy that I kept it comfy.  My baby cousins and I spent the entire day dancing and hiding underneath the table from "monster mom" (lol).  Sweater dresses are great way to take it up a notch, especially when dressed up with OTK boots and bold earrings.  I'm not going to lie, I've been living in this sweater since Thanksgiving.  I can't wait to show you other ways that I've styled it!

As always, thank you for reading - you guys are amazing.

Today is Monday and the only reason I'm super excited about it being Monday is because it's a two day week for me which means today is really Thursday (and not Monday) and tomorrow is really Friday (and not Tuesday).  And if you weren't already bright-eyed and bushy-tailed than that run-on sentence should have done it for you.  Happy Monday! :)

There are a lot of things to look forward to this week.  Of course, Thanksgiving, which I'm really looking forward to for obvious reasons.  The food, duh!  Just kidding (kinda). More importantly, some much needed family time.  Also, black Friday plus Cyber Monday.  It's only right that I include all of my favorite thanksgiving recipes (later this week) and early-access holiday sales, right?  Right.

I hope you guys have a great start of the week!  Talk soon!

Navy + Burgundy + Mustard

Who said sweatshirts couldn't be chic?  Especially in navy...and it has "New York" written across the front.  You know when i saw this at H&M I had to scoop it up quick

H&M Sweatshirt with Printed Design | A&F Low-Rise Super Skinny Jeans | Zara Backpack (sold out; I love this red one) | Navy Loafers (via Ross Stores; similar here

It's cozy, casual, and simple - everything I want in my life.  Not to mention, this color combo is everything.  Not wearing any black at all!  Are you guys proud?  I do wish I would have bought it in a medium for a little bit more of an over-sized fit but that's just me always wanting to feel like I'm in my pajamas.  But you guys already know that.

I don't mind rainy days when I'm home cuddled up on the couch with a good book...but while at work?  I'm literally falling asleep at my desk.  Nothing like a little shopping to keep the lids open though, right?

Now I'm wondering what I should cook tonight...chicken or shrimp?

Camo Baseball Hat + Boyfriend Cardigan

It has been unusually warm for the end of October - not that I mind at all.  This is the "in between weather" that I love.  There is just enough chill in the air for light layering.  My camo baseball hat is an oldie but a goodie and I still love it a year later.   This comfy and over-sized boyfriend sweater is a brand new addition to my fall wardrobe and...omg...so soft.

ASOS CAMOUFLAGE HAT (OLD; SIMILAR HERE) | H&M BOYFRIEND CARDIGAN | BASIC BLACK TEE VIA TJMAXX | ABERCROMBIE AND FITCH DENIM | SOLE SOCIETY BOOTIES (OLD BUT STILL AVAILABLE!)

By now you should know my love for hats, right?  So much that I could create a whole blog post linking back to all the hats I've worn on my blog.  That is why I recently did a poll on Instagram (using the picture above) asking if that would be something you would be interested in.  90% of you said yes!  So prepare to see one of those coming soon!

It's Monday again?!

The weekends go by way too fast

  • Guys, my food obsession is so real.  Lately, I've been into making my own pasta sauces.  It taste so much better!  But how about these beef marinades?  I don't eat beef that often but could be good for chicken too, right?
  • After the whole wedding dilemma, I realized how important it is to have dresses on deck.  I was totally against buying dresses "just because" and that experience changed that.  That being said, how pretty is this dress?  I could pretty much wear it to any event depending on how I style it.  SOLD.
  • Free shipping at Lulus's if you want to take a peek!  These Metallic Gold Vegan Suede Leggings are perfect for the holidays.
  • Have you ever heard of Pitapat Eraser?  I'm thinking about giving it a try!
  • I love the idea of this for long drives.
  • Also, loving these Nike Sunset Tint Flyknit's and these Nike Free Metallic's.
  • And OMG I need this in my life ASAP

I meant that last bullet point so if you love me, you know what to get me for Christmas - or tomorrow - either one. :)

Self Reflection

"Are you being led by your spirit or by your wound?"  I just so happened to read that quote somewhere and it really made me think.  What drives you?  What puts the fire under your butt?  What keeps you going?  Is it your spirit (who you are) or is it your pain (past or present)? For me, it's always been a little bit of both.  I usually have these moments of self-reflection but lately they have been happening more often then not.

Fall 6.jpg

Sometimes we are pushed outside of our comfort zones.  That's just life.  But lately, it seems like God really has been pushing me.  Pushing me to see past my feelings, past the known and familiarity of my everyday, and most importantly pushing me to fully and truly humble myself.  I have always considered myself to be an "open book" but through the years, I have noticed that I really am not.  I let people in, but not fully.  I share my feelings but to an extent.  My "I don't need anyone, I've been on my own since forever" attitude helped me and hurt me.  Even I don't allow myself to "feel" for too long and instead push things under the rug.  I'm no stranger to independence or perseverance.  But it is easy to get comfortable and I am guilty of falling into that pattern.

I say all of this to say that there is always room for growth.  Instead of waiting for life to force it on you, stop making excuses and pay attention Don't get too comfortable, don't let people get in your way, and most importantly, don't get in the way of yourself.  Self-reflecting is important.  It allows you to notice those negative patterns in your life.  Try to look at the bigger picture and stop worrying about things that are out of your control.  Refuse to remain stagnant.  Face your fears (we're all afraid of something).  Lastly, define happiness on your own terms.  Whatever those terms are.

Happy Friday!

What I'm Loving: Pointy Toe Boots

I find that most women I know gravitate more towards a round toe or a combination of both - round with a slight point.  I, on the other hand, either go for the combo or a pointed toe.  Something about the latter is incredibly chic...not to mention it makes your legs look 10 X longer. Win/Win.

Rose Gold Velvet Dress

You ever have moments where you feel like nothing is going the way you want it to?  I have had those moments one too many times this past month and when my dress for my friends wedding did not arrive at all, that was just the topping on the cake.  This day was special to me and I wanted to look special for it.  After trying on what felt like a million dresses, I just felt like giving up. I will not torture you with too many details but just know that searching for the dress the night before the wedding was not fun. As I was about to walk to my car, I decided to try one more place: Express.  I walked in, picked two dresses off the rack, and walked straight to the register.  I didn't even try them on, I was that done.  I actually didn't try on the dresses till the next day...

Two hours before the wedding and BAM - I made my choice.  Lucky is all I can say.  This velvet dress is pure magic.  Very 90's Kate Moss, don't you think?  When I picked this off the hanger I didn't think in a million years that it would look this good.  That's right, I said it.  I looked good and most importantly felt good.  I slipped it on and fell in love.  It is simple but packs a punch in this beautiful rose gold velvet. Clingy in all the right places, I felt like a total bombshell.  For the record, the second dress (here in navy, I bought it in red) was just as beautiful but not as flattering.  Rose gold earrings and silver shoes finished off the look.  I loved how the rose gold and silver looked together, the perfect "mixed metal" ensemble.

Now, let us talk about my hair and make-up.  I met Rachell at the wedding I went to in Fort Lauderdale.  We clicked right away once we realized we were both bloggers and shared the same love of fashion and beauty.  I immediately thought of her when it came to my hair and make-up.  She exceeded my expectations and I'm so happy that she came through for me.  Thanks, girl!

Before I go, I'm curious to know how you feel about mixing metals?  What do you think or what would you have done differently?  I would love to hear your ideas on how you would have worn it.  I already have a few ideas on how I can wear it again and again.  Like I said, this dress is pure magic.

For The Love Of Cafe Bustelo

"Oh, I can't stop drinking the coffee.  I stop drinking the coffee, I stop doing the standing and the walking, and the words putting into sentence doing."   It is almost impossible to not quote Gilmore Girls when talking about coffee.  If you don't know this about me already, I LOVE COFFEE.  Not because I'm addicted to the caffeine, but because I love the aroma, the taste, and the warm, fuzzy, feeling it gives me when I take that first sip.  Now, I wouldn't call myself a coffee connoisseur but I am pretty picky when it comes to my coffee.  So in honor of National Coffee Day (which I thought was yesterday...whoops!), I'm sharing with you my absolute favorite cup of coffee.  Cafe Bustelo!

This is a popular coffee brand, especially within the Latin community.  For the people who haven't tried it, I promise it will not disappoint.  I've converted one of my coworkers who now buys it in her own home.  Another coworker of mine tried it for the first time yesterday.  He text me saying " Wow. Cafe BOMBstelo." A little corny but it gets the point across: this stuff is BOMB.  Not only is this coffee just straight up delicious but it is also nice and strong.  If you're exhausted, it gets the job done! It comes in two forms of packaging: vacuum packed or in a tin can and the aroma is just incredible.  I usually make mine using a cloth coffee strainer, also called a Colador.  I also have a small metal stovetop coffee maker that I should use more often but I don't. {shrugs shoulders}. While we're talking coffee, shop cute mugs below!

Forgive me for writing in all caps and using the bold font a little too often during this post.  I'm just THAT passionate about my Cafe Butelo.

Francheska

What I'm Loving: Zippers

I usually don't do this until Friday but I have a lot of stuff I've been loving lately and I'm running behind on my post.  So Wednesday it is!  Maybe it will make Friday come faster?  What do you think? :)

unnamed.jpg
  1. BDG Striped Contrast Mini Skirt: I love the contrast between the stripes and the cognac zippers.  I would rock this skirt with a nude bodysuit to keep the focus on the skirt.
  2. ASOS Slim Boyfriend Coat with Zip Pocket: Everyone needs a classic nude coat and the zippers on this one give it a modern update.
  3. Trouve Off the Shoulder Blazer: Speaking of classic, here's a twist on the black blazer.  As you know, off the shoulder styles are very on trend and still going strong.
  4. Misguided Faux Suede Zip Leggings: Leggings season is here! Wear this with anything from sweaters to dresses for a little added edge.
  5. Steve Madden Lanna Booties: These booties are both functional and fashionable thanks to the micro studs on the soles.
  6. Topshop Zip Denim Skirt: I have a denim skirt and I might DIY it to look like this one.  What do you think?
  7. Sole Society Mason Travel Satchel: I have a weird obsession with travel satchels.  But how amazing is this one?  I love the color!

Some days less is more and today I'm going to go with less.  I'm sharing some pretty awesome links below so make sure to check them out.

unnamed.jpg
  • My prayers are with the people in Puerto Rico.  All this news is so devastating.  I am still waiting to hear from family affected by this devastation.
  • On a lighter note, tomorrow is National Pancake Day so make sure you treat yourself to a short stack.  You deserve it. ;)
  • And more importantly, Friday (9/29/17) is National Coffee Day.  Now you know I'm celebrating that one.
  • I am so excited to tell you that this lace-up sweater from last year is available in two new colors.  Not going to lie, I just might get it in the mauve color
  • This rib-knit sweater is on major sale.  For $12.99 you can't go wrong - especially for such a fall staple.
  • Obsesssssed with these boots
  • This is a silly little article but I have to say, I've been thinking about breaking up with social media for at least a little while.  It's hard to do that when you have a blog, but it's draining trying to keep up "just because".  I mean, can I just post a picture because I like it when I like it?
  • I'm usually not a fan of vinyl but...oh my goodness.  The lapels, the belt, the over-sized fit...they are everything.  I need this.

I hope your Monday is as beautiful as you are.

Cold Shoulder Linen Top

Hey!  So I'm back with some photos that I meant to share a couple months ago.  I originally wanted to take clearer photos of this top - but before I knew it summer was gone and I really wanted to share these before the season is officially over.  I'm really sad to pack this cold-shoulder linen top away for the season.  When I received it in the mail, I thought it fit me too big, although it was a size small which is my normal size.  Instead of returning it, I decided to make it work for me.  I undid a few buttons at the bottom of my top and tied it at my waist.  So keep in mind, when a top doesn't seem to fit, tweak it and make it work for you!

Little by little I'm trying to transition my summer wardrobe into fall.  It's still hot over here so its a little harder than expected but I have some great summer to fall outfits to share with you soon.  If there is anything you guys would like to see, please let me know!

Mint Satin Pajama Pants

I've been cheating on my favorite denim lately but the love is still real.  It's just sometimes we need some change in our lives.  We already spoke about my undying love for pajama pants. The ones from that last post were more masculine and even a bit moody, I would say.  These here are the prettiest shade of mint green.  The mix of greens, burgundy, and gold create the perfect color palette for transitioning into fall.

I can't wait to style these for fall and even into the winter.  For everyday wear, I think these would look great with a cropped sweater or with a basic long sleeve top and an over-sized denim jacket. But what I am most excited for are the holidays.  Imagine these satin pants with a low-cut bodysuit, and sky-high pumps.  In the meantime...I will be wearing them just like they are shown here because we are still experiencing 80 degree weather!
